Sweet Crude is a documentary film about the militant Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. MEND was created when the nonviolent Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People was ruthlessly crushed by the Nigerian government, and is credited with reducing oil output from the Niger Delta by 30 percent. Deep Green Resistance, an international social justice and environmental movement, cites MEND as an example of the sort of culture of resistance that the environmental emergency calls for. DGR Southwest Coalition will be showing Sweet Crude with a question and answer session and discussion to follow. Suggested donation $5-$10, all proceeds go to the Unist’ot’en Camp and Tar Sands Blockade.
